1. Go to kidblog.org
2. CLICK "
3. Choose a Display Name (this will appear on the login screen)
4. Fill in all necessary information
5. Choose A Class Name (remember this will appear at the top of the Class Blog)
1. ADD STUDENTS -FIRST METHOD: Importing Students Into KidBlog (middle school/high school)
1. Place User Name and Student Password in an Excel spreadsheet
2. Go to Control Panel once logged in your Kidblog account.
3. Near the top of the page click on Users and then click Bulk-Create Users.
3. Near the bottom of the page Browse for the CSV File (which is an excel spreadsheet)
4. Click the Blue Button Process CSV File
5. You will now see the usernames that have been created.
An example:
Kidblog will only allow 50 users per class. If needed, you can also create a new class.
2. ADD STUDENTS - SECOND METHOD: Allowing Students to Join Your Class (elementary)
4. Teacher Clicks CONTROL PANEL (upper right corner)
5. Teacher Clicks SETTINGS (middle of the page)
6. Teacher Clicks SHOW FOR PROJECTOR/SCREEN this will display the code students will need to type in.
7. Students type the code in and click JOIN CLASS
8. Students type in first name and Compass password.
9. Students will never do this again since they will just go your teacher webpage and click Our Class Blog and then they will pick their name from the list and type in the password there.
Regenerate The Class Code
You will want to regenerate your class code so other student that are not in your class will get it and join the blog.
1. Go to CONTROL PANEL
2. Click SETTINGS
3. Under Class Signup Code click REGENERATE (this will change the code so others will not know it but you can use the new code if you ever need to add a student quickly)
3. ADD STUDENTS - THIRD METHOD: Add students to your class and give them a startup password (elementary)
1. Log in to your Kidblog class
2. Click on your NAME in the top right corner near the logout link.
3. Click on the USERS tab.
4. Click on ADD NEW USERS.
5. Add a display name for a student (Example Hayden or HaydenD)
6. Add a password (You might manually enter a different password, such as a lunch number for each, or give all students the same password and then have them change it later - Example - panthers.)
7. Make sure "Student" is selected in the ROLE drop down.
8. Click "ADD NEW USER"
9. Repeat steps 5 thru 8 for all students.
How Students Log In
10. When you are ready for students to log in, take them to the direct link to your kidblog. (Example - kidblog.org/MsHooversClass-3)
11. Have them click "Login" in the top right corner on the blue bar.
12. Have them choose their name from the dropdown menu.
13. Have them enter the password you assigned them.
Choosing An Avatar
*Changing Backgrounds is now a "paid" feature. Teachers can change the background for the group, but individual students cannot change their own backgrounds.
1. A student will log on to his/her account.
2. Click on the student name in the top menu bar (next to 'log out')
3. Scroll to the middle of the screen until you can see the default avatar (square with a shadow person)
4. Click 'Change Avatar' under the default avatar.
5. Click ' Or Choose an Avatar From Our Collection' to see a list of image choices.
6. Click to choose.
7. Click 'Save Avatar'.
Adjusting The Teacher Control Panel
1. Once logged in to Kidblog choose Control Panel.
2. Choose Settings.
3. Within Settings you can adjust/control the look and feel of Kidblog including Posts, Comments, and User Permissions *If you want students' posts and comments to show immediately, be sure that the settings for both Posts and Comments are set to No Moderation.
